sprained ankle is the most common injury to the ankle with a long term consequence of chronic pain. The most common type of sprain is when the ankle rolls over on the outside. (inversion sprain).

Sprains are classified as to :

  • Overly stretched ankle ligaments
  • Partial rupture of one or more ankle ligaments
  • Complete rupture of one or more ligaments

Chronic sprains occur when proper treatment is incomplete and premature physical activity is begun.
The sooner treatment starts, the greater chance to prevent pain and long term instability.
